No immediate resolution to the protest of a recent New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association election emerged after the New York THA board conducted a hearing on the matter Feb. 10 at the Garden City Hotel near Belmont Park.
West Point Thoroughbreds president Terry Finley, who in November lost a close vote or president of the organization to trainer Rick Violette Jr., the incumbent, is protesting the results. Finley maintains that the organization did not publicize the election to all potential voters.
James Altman, of the New York City law office of Bryan Cave, is representing the board in the proceedings. The Tuesday meeting began at 11 a.m. EST and wrapped up at about 6:45 p.m. No timetable on a decision on the protest was offered.
Hearing participants were advised not to comment on the meeting until a decision is reached.
