Peter Brant's Sistercharlie returned to the work tab May 3 for the first time since racing in the Breeders' Cup in early November, taking a step toward her 6-year-old campaign.

The Myboycharlie mare took to a firm turf course at Palm Meadows Training Center for trainer Chad Brown. She worked three furlongs in :37 1/5 under regular exercise rider Walter Malasquez.

"She's had her first work back, and she's doing really well," Brown said. "I'm happy to have her for the season and have her back breezing."

Sistercharlie, the champion turf female of 2018, won three of her four starts last year—all grade 1s. She wrapped up the year with a third-place finish in the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T), which she won in her championship season.

With many racetracks on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic—including the New York Racing Association circuit where Brown is based during the Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course meets—the four-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer is waiting for the race schedules to shape up before deciding on any targets for Sistercharlie.

"We're very fortunate to have her in the barn. I'm thankful," Brown said. "Mr. Brant, he could have easily bred her. He's a real sportsman, he loves seeing her run, and it's great for horse racing to keep her going, so he really should be applauded for that."

Sistercharlie was one of several Brown trainees to breeze on the Palm Meadows turf Sunday as they await their next race assignments. Others to work included Annals of Time (three furlongs in :37.45), Instilled Regard (four furlongs in :48.85), Raging Bull (four furlongs in :49 2/5), Rushing Fall (four furlongs in :48.95), and Without Parole (four furlongs in :48.85).
