Lone Star Park is scheduled to open for live racing May 22, according to the Texas Thoroughbred Association.

The state racing organization tweeted May 19 that entries would be taken by telephone only May 20 for the opening-day card and would continue on a 48-hour entry schedule for racing May 23-24. The entry schedule for the remainder of the meet will be announced later.

Racing in Texas has been on hold for the past two months due to COVID-19. Sam Houston Race Park was the last track to race Thoroughbreds in the state, concluding its meet prematurely March 21 after racing for approximately a week without spectators.

Citing developments during a Tuesday meeting of the Texas Racing Commission, Daily Racing Form also reported Lone Star's opening as scheduled for May 22. During that three-hour meeting, Scott Wells, the president and general manager of Lone Star, asked the commission for scheduling flexibility. The track had originally planned on running 44 dates from April 16 to July 19.

As of 8:30 p.m. ET Tuesday, Lone Star's website and the track's official twitter feed made no mention of the track opening.

According to Daily Racing Form, entries will be taken based on what was originally intended to be Day 1 of the condition book, April 16. The condition book is available on the track's website
