Kelly Brinkerhoff and Bob Grayson Jr.'s Restrainedvengence has a pair of stakes wins on dirt and another pair of stakes wins on turf, and the 5-year-old Hold Me Back gelding will look for his first stakes score on a synthetic surface May 25 in the $100,000 All American Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.
Restrainedvengence is one of seven older horses entered in the one-mile Memorial Day feature run on Golden Gate's Tapeta surface. In his only start at the Northern California track, he won the Rolling Green Stakes on turf in September.
The Val Brinkerhoff trainee has won two of his past three starts. He closed last season with a 4 1/2-length victory racing nine furlongs in the Zia Park Championship Handicap, and on March 15 he won the 1 1/16-mile Curribot Handicap at Sunland Park.
Restrainedvengence will break from post 2 with jockey Kent Desormeaux aboard for the first time.
Paradise Road Ranch's Camino Del Paraiso enters the All American seeking his first stakes win. The 7-year-old Suances gelding has placed in nine stakes, including four grade 3s. He enters off a pair of runner-up finishes on Santa Anita Park's turf, rallying at 50-1 in the Feb. 8 Thunder Road Stakes (G3T) before another second in the San Luis Rey Stakes (G3T).
Camino Del Paraiso opened the season with an allowance score on Golden Gate's main track going 1 1/16 miles. The O. J. Jauregui trainee will be ridden by Ricardo Gonzalez from post 5.
Savvy Racing, Peter McGoldrick, and John Tipton's Builder returns to the All American after finishing second a year ago when it was run as a grade 3.
The Gio Ponti gelding trained by Isidro Tamayo will be making his 5-year-old debut. He last raced in November, finishing fifth in the Joseph T. Grace Stakes on Golden Gate's turf. Camino Del Paraiso was second in the same race. Builder was second in his two previous starts to the Joseph T. Grace, including the Rolling Green Stakes won by Restrainedvengence. His connections claimed him for $12,500 in February 2019 at Santa Anita.
Builder will break from the outside post under Julien Couton.
Completing the lineup are Kiwi's Dream, a two-time allowance-level winner this year at Golden Gate; Bold Endeavor, who opened the season with an allowance score at Santa Anita; Premium Forest, a winner of three consecutive races in starter and allowance company; and Engram.
