Keeneland has released the condition book for its five-day spectatorless summer meet, which will take place July 8-12. The unique summer dates were approved by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission after the Lexington track's spring meet was canceled due to COVID-19. The condition book is available online at Equibase.
Keeneland will offer average daily purses of $948,000, including Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Funds, for a total of $4,742,000.
Ten graded stakes worth $2,575,000 headline the summer meet schedule: four grade 1 stakes, four grade 2 races, and two grade 3 events. Stakes nominations will close June 24.
"We are excited to offer such a high-quality condition book and to have the opportunity to present a number of major graded stakes traditionally held during the spring meet," Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said. "We thank our horsemen for their strong support of Keeneland and our racing program."
Keeneland will present a major day of racing July 11, featuring six graded stakes anchored by the $600,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) and $400,000 Central Bank Ashland Stakes (G1), prep races for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) and Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1), respectively. The $350,000 Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T) and $250,000 Madison Stakes (G1) will also be run on the July 11 card.
The $300,000 Maker's Mark Mile Stakes (G1T) is scheduled for July 10.
