Thoughtfully was a $950,000 yearling purchase at The Saratoga Sale

Among a field of nine 2-year-old fillies entered for Churchill Downs' second race June 11, Heider Family Stables and trainer Steve Asmussen will unveil Thoughtfully, a $950,000 yearling purchase from the Gainesway consignment to The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Tapit  filly was among the top three prices at the sale and was purchased by agent Donato Lanni for the current owner. She has recorded five timed workouts at Keeneland since early May, with her most recent, a half-mile breeze from the gate in :47 1/5, coming June 2.

Bred by Gainesway, Thoughtfully is the seventh foal out of the Seeking the Gold mare Pension, who is the dam of grade 2 winner Annual Report and stakes winner Giant Payday. The filly's deep pedigree is highlighted by her third dam, Blitey, a grade 1-placed Riva Ridge mare who produced three grade 1 winners, including Thoughtfully's second dam, Furlough.

Blitey's other grade 1 winners are Dancing Spree and Fantastic Find, who in turn produced grade 1 winner Finder's Fee. Thoughtfully's female family traces to grade 1 winners The Liberal Member and Bigger Picture and two top-level winners from South America.

Her debut is set to take place in a 5 1/2-furlong, $79,000 maiden special weight in which she drew post 7 and is slated to be ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr. as the morning-line 7-5 favorite.

The second choice at odds of 8-5 is Gary Barber's American Indy, an American Pharoah  half sister to 2016 Vosburgh Stakes (G1) winner Joking. The siblings are out of the A.P. Indy mare Spun Silk.

Trained by Mark Casse, American Indy has two timed works at Churchill Downs and completed four furlongs in :49 2/5 June 6 in her most recent breeze.

American Indy was bred by Dr. Michael Gentry, Carolyn Gentry, and American Pharoah Syndicate. Her female family traces to Yarn, the dam of dual group 1 winner Minardi and grade 1-placed Coolmore sire Tale of the Cat. She was bought by Justin Casse from the Buckland Sales consignment to the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale for $225,000.

She will break from post 3 with Florent Geroux aboard.
