Thoughtfully cruises to an 8 3/4-length win at Churchill Downs

Heider Family Stables' Thoughtfully won for fun in her June 11 debut going 5 1/2 furlongs at Churchill Downs for trainer Steve Asmussen.

The 2-year-old Tapit  filly, who was a $950,000 yearling purchase, sprang out of the gate under jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. and momentarily vied for the lead with Summer War, but Trip to Seoul quickly took over as Summer War had to check and fell back.

Thoughtfully settled into second on the outside, with Prodigy Doll eventually rating in third as Trip to Seoul went a quarter-mile in 22.65. But by the time the field rounded the turn and headed into the stretch, Thoughtfully had a nose in front and posted :46.70 through a half-mile.

Off at odds of 3-5, Thoughtfully opened on Prodigy Doll, who finished second, by 8 3/4 lengths. Naughty Nellie got past Trip to Seoul for third.

American Indy, an American Pharoah  half sister to grade 1 winner Joking who went off as the second choice at odds of 9-5, was pinched between horses at the start and raced last in the field of nine before making up some ground and finishing seventh.

Gainesway bred and consigned Thoughtfully to The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale. She is the seventh foal out of the Seeking the Gold mare Pension, who is the dam of grade 2 winner Annual Report and stakes winner Giant Payday.

Thoughtfully's pedigree is highlighted by her third dam, Blitey, the grade 1-placed Riva Ridge mare who produced grade 1 winners Dancing Spree, Fantastic Find (who in turn produced grade 1 winner Finder's Fee), and Thoughtfully's second dam, Furlough.
