A colt by Lane's End Farms' Quality Road ignited a bidding war during the June 12 final session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.
Consigned by Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent, the juvenile was purchased for $1.25 million by Kaleem and Arman Shah. Bloodstock agent Ben McElroy signed the winning ticket on the buyer's behalf.
Bred in Kentucky by KatieRich Farms, Hip 1018 is out of the A.P. Indy mare False Impression, who is also the dam of stakes winner and grade 1-placed Standard Deviation. He was previously purchased for $240,000 by Golf 19/20 from his breeder at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale.
The colt worked a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 during the OBS under tack show.
