Social Exclusion takes her debut by 4 3/4 lengths at Gulfstream Park

Social Exclusion became the first winner for Social Inclusion , besting a field of 2-year-old fillies racing five furlongs on the turf at Gulfstream Park in her July 1 debut.

Social Exclusion flew out of the gate under jockey Emisael Jaramillo and quickly established the early lead. She then blazed through the first quarter-mile in :21.29 with the Wesley Ward-trained Gem Thief pressing her from the outside.

After cutting the corner coming into the stretch, Social Exclusion turned in a half-mile in :44.26 while pulling away from Kay's Project, who tried to go with her but was clearly outrun. The winner opened a 4 3/4-length margin at the wire and finished in :56.50 on the firm turf.

Trained by Steve Klesaris for owner Joseph Imbesi, Social Exclusion went off at odds of 10-1 and was followed to the wire by runner-up Kay's Project at odds of 29-1. The favored Gem Thief finished third.

Bred in Florida by Steven Smith, Social Exclusion is out of the Tale of the Cat mare Genuine Treasure. She is the second starter for her sire.

Social Inclusion, who began his stud career at Woodford Thoroughbreds in Florida at a fee of $4,000, now stands at Diamond B Farm in Pennsylvania for $5,000.

After breaking his maiden first time out by 7 1/2 lengths at Gulfstream as a 3-year-old, Social Inclusion followed with a 10-length allowance score at the south Florida track over eventual dual grade 1 winner and sire Honor Code .

The son of Pioneerof the Nile then earned three placings at the graded level while racing for Rontos Racing Stable and trainer Manuel Azpurua. He first placed third in the Twinspires.com Wood Memorial (G1) won by Wicked Strong , then again in the Preakness Stakes (G1) won by California Chrome , and, finally, behind Bayern  in the Woody Stephens (G2).

At 4, he was transferred to the barn of Chad Brown but did not reach the same level. In the final start of his career, with Juan Carlos Guerrero as the trainer of record, Social Inclusion won a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claiming race by 11 3/4 lengths at Parx Racing. Overall, Social Inclusion earned $450,800 on the track from a record of 3-1-3 in nine starts.

Bred in Kentucky by Robert Tillyer, Martin Keogh, and Dr. Chet Blackey out of the Saint Ballado mare Saint Bernadette, Social Inclusion was a $60,000 purchase by Rontos Racing Stable at the 2012 Keeneland September Yearling Sale when consigned by Betz Thoroughbreds.
