Frank's Rockette wins an allowance optional claimer at Churchill Downs

Frank Fletcher Racing Operations' Frank's Rockette brings the class into the $100,000 Victory Ride Stakes (G3) going 6 1/2 furlongs on Runhappy Met Mile Day July 4 at Belmont Park.

Racing for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, and favored in all seven of her starts, the swift daughter of Into Mischief  again tops the morning-line odds in the July 4 Victory Ride at 3-5.

Frank's Rockette has never finished worse than second, and her only stakes victory was a seven-length score in the Feb. 22 Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream Park in her 2020 debut. Frank's Rockette finished second in three graded stakes last year: the Adirondack Stakes (G2) and Spinaway Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course, and the Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont. She arrives off a May 25 victory against optional claiming company at Churchill Downs, where she led a torrid pace but maintained her advantage throughout and drew off to a 3 1/2-length victory.

Frank's Rockette has trained forwardly since her previous effort. Her most recent work was a half-mile drill in :46 4/5, which was the fastest of 45 recorded works at the distance June 28 on the Belmont main track.

Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez, who has piloted Frank's Rockette twice, will return to the irons from the rail.

Reagan's Edge will make her stakes debut against four other sophomore fillies.

Trained by Cherie DeVaux, the wife of owner David Ingordo, Reagan's Edge was a runaway nine-length debut winner at six furlongs Sept. 24 at Indiana Grand, defeating next-out winners Competitive Fire and Pranked. Following a six-month layoff, the chestnut daughter of Competitive Edge  was third, beaten 5 1/2 lengths, in her season debut before rallying to win a May 16 allowance race at Churchill Downs.

"She showed that she had some ability early on. Her last race really showed a different dimension with her being able to close there at the end," DeVaux said.

Reagan's Edge holds sentimental value to her connections as she is named after Ingordo's 9-year-old daughter.

"It's her horse in theory, but she doesn't pay the bills," DeVaux said. "My husband really wanted her to win first out, so we took her to Indiana and she ran great. It's a big step up for her, but she's proved that she at least wants the opportunity. It's really nice for the horse and that we have her as a part of the family."

Jockey Jose Lezcano will ride from post 3.

The others lining up in the gate are the Chad Brown-trained Center Aisle, who won first time out at Gulfstream Park; stakes winner Up in Smoke, who has won four of her five starts for trainer George Weaver; and last year's Spinaway fourth, Miss Peppina.
