In conjunction with Indiana's Stage 4.5 guidelines and confirmed with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, Indiana Grand has been authorized to allow spectators for live racing beginning in the state July 4. In addition, simulcast operations can resume.

Indiana Grand and Harrah's Hoosier Park, a  harness track in the state, will operate at reduced capacity per state and commission guidelines, according to a release from Caesars Entertainment. All guests will be strongly encouraged to wear face masks in all locations but will be required to wear face masks while indoors at both venues, except while consuming food or beverages.

The opening of Indiana Grand for spectators comes days before the track hosts one of its biggest stakes races July 8, the $300,000 Indiana Derby (G3). The race is a qualifier on the Road to the Kentucky Derby this year, providing points on a 20-8-4-2 scale to the first four finishers.

The Indiana Derby was drawn July 2, attracting 10 entries, including Major Fed, Winning Impression and Shared Sense.

Also on the July 8 card are four supporting stakes topped by the $200,000 Indiana Oaks (G3).

Indiana Grand delayed its opening this year two months due to COVID-19, beginning its meet June 15. Its season concludes Nov. 18.

Sportsbook operations at Indiana Grand and Hoosier Park remain closed until further notice. A full list of the available amenities at Indiana Grand is on the track website.
