Dual Eclipse Award winner Main Sequence breezed an easy half-mile on turf in :50 at Palm Meadows Training Center Feb. 16 in preparation for his scheduled 2015 debut in the $200,000 Mac Diarmida Stakes (gr. IIT) at Gulfstream Park.

The 2014 champion turf and older horse trained by Graham Motion for owner-breeder Flaxman Holdings worked in company with multiple stakes winner Ring Weekend, also trained by Motion for West Point Thoroughbreds and St. Elias Stable.

Both horses broke off together, with Ring Weekend on the inside, and breezed as a team until late before Main Sequence drew away and galloped out strongly. Ring Weekend is also slated to run Saturday in the $150,000 Canadian Turf (gr. IIIT) on a program that will feature eight stakes (seven graded).

Undefeated last year in four starts, all grade I stakes, including the Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT), Main Sequence was voted Eclipse Awards as North America's champion older horse and male turf horse.

"He had a good work last week and we didn't want to overdo it today, six days before the race," Motion said. "I actually thought of working them on their own today, but I just thought they could work together. They're both good work horses."

Motion said he's looking forward to saddling the gelded son of Aldebaran for his 2015 opener in the 1 3/8-mile Mac Diarmida.

"It's very exciting. After winning two Eclipse Awards, you just want everything to go well," Motion said. "It's very exciting getting to this point. A lot of time goes into getting him here."
