A Not This Time filly consigned as Hip 640 was the first OBS under tack worker to run an eighth-mile in under :10

A sub-:10 eighth-mile workout was elusive during the first three under tack show sessions for the Ocala Breeders' Sales 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale, but a Not This Time  filly broke through during the July 9 fourth session with a :09 4/5 breeze.

Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, as Hip 640, the filly bred in New York by Sequel Stallions NY and Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings was purchased for $19,000 at the 2019 OBS October Yearling Sale by Silvestre Avila, one of de Meric's exercise riders.

From the first crop of Taylor Made Stallions' Not This Time, the chestnut filly was produced from the A.P. Indy mare Exotic Design. The filly's second dam is the Rahy mare Exotic Wood, whose 11 wins in 17 starts included three grade 1 stakes. Exotic Wood is also the dam of stakes winner Key to Power, also a daughter of A.P. Indy. Sequel New York bought Exotic Design for $17,000 from Four Star Sales at the 2018 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale while carrying the Not This Time filly in utero.

"We expected her to go well and couldn't be happier with the breeze," Tristan de Meric said. "She's one we have high expectations for. She is owned by our main exercise rider, Silvestre Avila, who has been with us a long time and is a key part of our program. We always have a couple of horses for him, and he has done everything with her up until now."

Three juvenile colts breezed the eighth-mile in :10.

Hip 607 is a son of Shackleford offered by Top Line Sales, agent, that was bred in Pennsylvania by Richard Bosshard Jr. The colt was produced from the five-time winning Tale of the Cat  mare Donnatale, a half sister to stakes winner and grade 3-placed Heavenly Score. The colt was a $70,000 acquisition by Billy Williams from Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale.

Cataloged as Hip 648 as part of the Q Bar J Thoroughbreds offerings is a Nyquist  colt that also breezed in :10. Bred in Kentucky by Brookfield Stud, the colt was bought by his consignor from Denali Stud for $125,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The colt's dam is the stakes-placed Zensational mare Fancy and Flashy. Included under third dam Louisiana Flash are a host of black-type winners, including multiple stakes winner Wild Lightning, the dam of the stakes-winning, grade 3-placed Saintliness and granddam of grade 2 winner Seduire.

Consigned by G. A. Thoroughbred Sales, agent, Hip 680 was the third :10 eighth-mile worker Thursday. Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Chris Lesbines, Rod Burk, and Michael Yovankin, the colt was bought as a weanling by Phoenix Farm & Racing for $12,000 from Buckland Sales at the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

The colt is out of the stakes-placed Quaker Ridge mare Freedom Ridge, a half sister to multiple stakes winner and sire Flamenco, who finished third in the Hopeful Stakes (G1) at 2, and to the dam of multiple stakes winner Mo Cash.

The best quarter-mile time of :21 1/5 was turned in by Hip 639, a Ghostzapper  colt consigned by Randy Bradshaw, agent. Bred in New York by Gallagher's Stud, the colt was purchased by Bradshaw for $250,000 from Denali Stud, agent, at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearlings Sale in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The colt is out of Excellent News, a daughter of Rahy who earned $221,874 and is a half sister to grade 3 winner and grade 2-placed Here's to You.

"He's a nice horse; a strong, good-looking colt with a great body," Bradshaw said. "He has not had any issues and has been pretty easy and straightforward to train."

The top worker Thursday at three-eighths of a mile was Hip 572, a bay filly from the first crop of Social Inclusion , who stands at Diamond B Farm in Pennsylvania. Consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, agent, the filly bred in Florida by Michelle Redding is out of the stakes-placed Dixieland Heat mare Dandy Dulce. The filly was a $16,000 purchase by Armando Rosas at the OBS October sale.

The under tack show continues through Saturday, with sessions beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET daily.
