Qous, the first foal out of dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) victress Treve, opened his account at Chantilly where he landed the Prix du Mont Alta over 1 5/16 miles by a short neck in his second outing July 17.
The Andre Fabre-trained 3-year-old at the rear of the five-runner field, but once he was brought to the outside by Vincent Cheminaud the colt stayed on well to claim the lead close home.
There was a small but select field in opposition to the blue-blooded Al Shaqab homebred, with the Gleneagles colt L'Aigle in second and Edge of Victory, the Kingman colt out of French One Thousand Guineas (G1) winner Beauty Parlour (GB), back in third.
Qous is by Dubawi and is one of four foals produced by the wonder mare Treve. She also has a 2-year-old filly by Shalaa, who has been given the auspicious name Paris and is also in training with Fabre, as well as a yearling filly by Siyouni, and she gave birth to a daughter of Sea The Stars in March this year.
Treve was among a host of star mares in Kingman's 2020 book.
The champion mare ran 13 times for trainer Criquette Head and compiled one of the finest race records of recent times, winning the Prix de Diane (G1) in just her third start before going on to add the Prix Vermeille (G1) and her first Arc.
She returned at 4 and retained her Arc crown with a stunning performance, seeing off Flintshire in second and Taghrooda in third. She gained further group 1 laurels at 5 in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Prix Vermeille, and brought the curtain down on her racing days with a fourth behind Golden Horn in the 2015 Arc.
Bred by the Head family's Haras du Quesnay, the ten-year-old daughter of Motivator is out of the winning Anabaa mare Trevise, making her a half-sister to stakes performers Trois Rois and Trophee.
Her fourth dam is the champion racemare Trillion, who found further fame as the dam of the exceptional filly Triptych.
