Frank Conversation , a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Quality Road , will shuttle to Haras Santa Sara in Santiago, Chile, for the 2020 Southern Hemisphere breeding season, Rockridge Stud announced July 19. Frank Conversation just completed his second year at stud at Rockridge in Hudson, N.Y.
"We're thrilled with the quality of his first crop of foals and would love to see international success for the horse," said Rockridge Stud's Lere Visagie. "An opportunity to shuttle just seemed like a no-brainer." The deal was brokered by Bowling Bloodstock and Sullivan Bloodstock.
"We've had great success in the past with Santa Sara, most recently having sent Goldencents there," said Matt Bowling of Bowling Bloodstock. "They take very good care of the horses, and we think 'Frank' will be well received there."
Bred in Kentucky by Marc Keller, Frank Conversation is out of the Unusual Heat mare Rushen Heat. While he is the most successful foal produced from his dam to date, he has a full sister named Quality Heat who has placed three times in stakes company.
Frank Conversation made 19 starts for trainer Doug O'Neill and owner Reddam Racing. His best scores came at 3, when he won the El Camino Real Derby (G3) on the dirt and the Twilight Derby (G2T) on the grass. He went on to place third in the Hollywood Derby (G1T) that same year.
At 4, Frank Conversation placed second in the Charles Whittingham Stakes (G2T) and third in the John Henry Turf Championship Stakes (G2T). He made two more starts at 5, including a third-place effort in the Charles Whittingham. He was retired in 2018 with a 4-2-4 record and earnings of $520,965.
