Mill Ridge Farm announced Aug. 12 the appointment of Price Bell Jr. as its general manager.

Upon completing his MBA from Vanderbilt's Owen School in 2010, Bell returned to Lexington and his life's passion, the Thoroughbred industry. With conviction for the sport and believing in the opportunity to develop the industry's fan base, Bell became actively involved with the founding of Horse Country, an industry-created, non-profit organization that arranges tours at Central Kentucky farms and equine clinics in order to connect visitors with the story of the horses, the land, and the people.

Bell also assisted as a bloodstock agent for the Mill Ridge affiliate, Nicoma Bloodstock. He serves on the boards of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders, the national Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, Fayette Alliance, Amplify Horse Racing, and Horse Country.

Price said it is a tremendous honor to work with the team at his family's owned and operated Mill Ridge, many of whom worked with his grandmother and 2020 National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame inductee Alice Chandler.

"In the summer of 1995, I began work at Mill Ridge Farm under the tutelage of the team responsible for raising generations of great Thoroughbreds. It is an honor to work with many team members from when I first started," said Price.

His father, Headley Bell, will continue as Mill Ridge Farm's managing partner, a role he has enjoyed since 2008, as well as enhancing Nicoma Bloodstock's operation. Headley Bell founded the bloodstock agency in 1979.

Since 2000, Mill Ridge Farm has raised and/or sold 35 grade 1 winners. During 40 years of service, Nicoma Bloodstock has led its clients to the pinnacles of success by capturing multiple graded/group stakes worldwide, including twice in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1), twice in the Kentucky Derby (G1), once in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), and four victories in the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Nicoma clients have also been honored to receive two Horse of the Year awards.
