Description:

Stakes races scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots lost a pair of prominent starters the day before when trainer Todd Pletcher said J S Bach would be scratched from the Risen Star Stakes (gr. II) and trainer David Carroll said Villandry would be held out of the Fair Grounds Handicap (gr. IIIT).

Pletcher said he decided to scratch J S Bach, who figured to be one of the favorites in the Risen Star, after a fever was detected in the Donald Dizney homebred Feb. 18. No new plans were announced for the son of Tale of the Cat

Gainesway Stable's Villandry, who had been the highweight for the Fair Grounds Handicap, was scratched because Carroll said the Mr. Greeley gelding was not training well. He'll be rested in Kentucky and rejoin the stable of Charlie LoPresti.
