Severe Winter Weather Brings Cancellations

Description:

Due to winter weather, including temperatures and winds anticipated to produce a wind chill well into single digits, live racing at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races for Feb. 20 has been canceled.

Aqueduct Racetrack in New York and Laurel Park in Maryland earlier announced there would be no live racing Friday because of similar weather conditions.

Full-card simulcasts will be offered as usual at Charles Town as scheduled throughout the day, with live racing slated to resume Feb. 21 at 7:05 p.m. EST. Charles Town had canceled its racing programs for Feb. 18-19 because of weather conditions.

Live racing at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course was also canceled for Feb. 20. Temperatures were not expected to get above 15 degrees and wind chills were forecast to register as low as -15 degrees.

The loss of the Feb. 20 card was the seventh full card cancellation of the 2015 racing season at the Pennsylvania oval. The track also lost five of eight scheduled races due to weather Jan. 30.

Afternoon and evening simulcast wagering were to still be available Friday at Penn National, with live racing scheduled to resume there Saturday at 6 p.m. EST.
