Palace Pier Half Brother in Tattersalls October Book 1

A half brother to star miler Palace Pier has been unveiled among the 547 lots to be offered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

The unbeaten winner of the St. James's Palace Stakes (G1) and Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1), by Kingman, was knocked down to trainer John Gosden for 600,000 guineas (US$824,859) at the event two years ago, while his sibling, who is being consigned by Highclere Stud, could get the first crop of globe-trotter Highland Reel off to a flying start at auction.

Unsurprisingly, the premier event at Park Paddocks, to be staged Oct. 6-8, features a heavyweight lineup, including full or half brothers and sisters to 53 classic and group 1 winners and 256 group or listed winners.

They include siblings of such familiar names as Beauty Parlour, Deep Brilliante, Galileo Gold, Integral, Izzi Top, Lillie Langtry, Line of Duty, Magna Grecia, Marsha, Order of St George, Qualify, Shalaa, and Speedy Boarding.

All in all, there are 20 yearlings by Dubawi, 19 by Galileo, 32 by Frankel, 21 by Kingman, and 33 by Sea The Stars.

Elite mares to have their progeny cataloged include Danedream, Intricately, and Seal of Approval (all of whom have yearlings by Dubawi); Attraction, Cursory Glance, and Ribbons (Frankel); Talent (Sea The Stars); and QIPCO One Thousand Guineas (G1) winner Sky Lantern (Galileo).

Fine race mares Angara and Spinning Queen have fillies by Almanzor and Le Havre respectively, both coming from Norris Bloodstock as part of the Waddesdon Stud dispersal.

Some 15 other first-crop yearling sires are represented, including the likes of Caravaggio, Churchill, Decorated Knight, and Ulysses, while among overseas-based sires listed are American Pharoah , Curlin , Kitten's Joy , and War Front , along with what is thought to be the only yearling to be offered in Europe by the late Arrogate, a colt from Haras de Colleville.

The largest consignment comes from The Castlebridge Consignment with 32 yearlings, followed by Newsells Park Stud with 25, Watership Down Stud with 20, and Highclere Stud with 19. Last year's sale-topping consignor, Hazelwood Bloodstock, has six lots cataloged.

"We have an extraordinary number of yearlings by the very best of an outstanding cast of European sires and, crucially for buyers at every level of Book 1, all 547 Book 1 yearlings can reward owners with the lucrative prize money offered through the £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme.

"While the prize money for the hugely popular scheme has been slightly reduced in these uncertain times, it still remains uniquely rewarding, and a significant number of the fillies in October Book 1 will also be eligible for the recently introduced Great British Bonus scheme."
