Stewards Suspend Trainer Roberson Two Years

Description:

Delaware Park stewards have suspended veteran trainer Donald Roberson for two years for possessing hypodermic needles, hypodermic syringes, and injectable medications.

In an Aug. 6 release, the stewards said Roberson admitted to the illegal possession of needles, syringes, and injectable medications on the Delaware Park grounds in July.

Roberson's suspension was scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and continue through Aug. 10, 2015. The trainer also was fined $2,500 and ordered to pay $1,500 for the cost of testing the confiscated items.

Stewards Jack Houghton Jr. (chief state steward), Fritz Burkhardt, and Dennis Lima, noted that the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission could consider further action.

Roberson has registered more than 1,100 wins in his career.
