Four racetracks have canceled live racing for the evening of Feb. 21 because of weather conditions.
With the next winter storm expected to bring between four to six inches of new snow to central Pennsylvania Feb. 21, live racing at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course has been canceled.
Simulcasting will continue throughout the day at Penn National. The next live racing program is scheduled for Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. EST.
The loss of the Feb. 21 card was the eighth full card cancellation of the 2015 racing season at the track, which also lost five of eight scheduled races due to weather Jan. 30.
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has now lost an entire week of racing, from Feb. 18-21 and is scheduled to resume live racing Feb. 25. The track has remained open for simulcasting.
Turfway Park in Kentucky was able to get in its live program Feb. 20, but heavy snow and sleet Feb. 21 forced the track to cancel live racing for the evening. Turfway is scheduled to race the afternoon of Feb. 22, when the $75,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes for 3-year-old fillies is the feature.
Maryland's Laurel Park got through two races but cancelled the remainder of the card after the early daily double Feb. 21 due to severe weather conditions.
Laurel remained open for simulcast wagering.
Live racing resumes at Laurel Sunday, Feb. 22, with a 12:35 p.m. EST first race post time.
