Fire On Command became the first winner for Crestwood Farm's freshman sire Firing Line when she wore down her rivals to win by a length in a five-furlong maiden special weight Sept. 8 at Assiniboia Downs.
Bred in Kentucky by Bill Frothinger, Fire On Command is raced by co-owner/trainer Shelley Brown and Steve Holburn. Brown bought the filly for $1,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale out of the Whitman Sales consignment and has earned nearly $18,000 with her so far. Fire On Command has started four times and was second in her three other races.
Fire On Command is out of the Purim winner Pursteena, who is out of a half sister to the Cozzene stakes winner and track record holder Goat Cheese. The family also has produced graded-placed winner Fast Track, who set a one-mile course record at Turf Paradise.
Firing Line, by Line of David, finished second in the 2015 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) to eventual Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and won the Sunland Derby (G3) ahead of the Kentucky Derby by 14 1/4 lengths. His other top performances include seconds in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G1) and Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3).
Firing Line won twice and was second four times out of eight starts and earned $976,000. He stands at Crestwood Farm for $5,000.
