Champion Midnight Bisou came out of a Sept. 28 maintenance breeze at Saratoga Race Course "a bit off" and has been sent to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital's renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Larry Bramlage in Kentucky for evaluation, according to co-owner Jeff Bloom.

"Midnight Bisou had an easy routine maintenance breeze this morning at Saratoga. Our champion mare was a bit 'off' after cooling out. Out of an abundance of caution she will be sent to Dr. Larry Bramlage in Lexington, KY for a full evaluation," Bloom tweeted.

Bloom said later he would have an update on the five-time grade 1 winner's condition following her visit with Bramlage Sept. 30. Bloom Racing Stable campaigns Midnight Bisou with Madaket Stables and Allen Racing.

Midnight Bisou was being aimed for the Oct. 4 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (G1) at Keeneland before an anticipated return to the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) Nov. 7, also at Keeneland.

The 5-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute  worked four furlongs Monday over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga in :50.15, the seventh-fastest of 19 working that distance. She has made three starts so far this year, kicking off 2020 with a second in the inaugural $20 million Saudi Cup against males. Since then she won the Fleur de Lis Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs and was second in the Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) at Saratoga. The 2019 champion older mare has won 13 of her 22 starts and banked more than $7.4 million in earnings.
