Ivar wins Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes
Bonne Chance Farm and Stud R D I's Ivar pulled off a 14-1 upset in the $750,000 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) Oct. 3 at Keeneland, rallying from the back of the pack for his first stakes victory in the United States.
The Brazilian-bred, a dual group 1 winner in Argentina, made his first U.S. start at the allowance level in May and won at that same level the following month at Churchill Downs. He came into the Shadwell Turf Mile off a third-place finish in the Sept. 7 Tourist Mile at Kentucky Downs. He paid $30.80.
Raging Bull ran second and Without Parole was third.
Saturday's win gives Ivar a berth in the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile Presented by PDJF (G1T) back at Keeneland Nov. 7.
