Kevin Drew's Jilli Marie won on debut Oct. 3 at Woodbine, representing the first winner for freshman stallion Dynamic Sky.
Ridden by Steven Bahen, the filly was sixth early in the six-furlong maiden optional claimer on the all-weather track. She rallied for a length victory at 13-1 in a final time of 1:10.63.
Katterina Vassilieva trains the 2-year-old, who was bred in Ontario by Brian Wright out of the multiple stakes-placed Cape Canaveral mare Jilli's Cape. Drew purchased Jilli Marie for $11,274 from Shannondoe Farm's consignment to the 2019 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division) Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale.
Dynamic Sky, an Ontario-bred son of Sky Mesa , was trained by Mark Casse for owner John Oxley to victories in the Red Smith Handicap (G3T), Plate Trial Stakes, Pasco Stakes, and Simcoe Stakes. He also earned grade 1 placings in the Pattison Canadian International (G1T), Northern Dancer Turf (G1T), and Dixiana Breeders' Futurity (G1T).
Casse purchased Dynamic Sky as agent for $25,243 at the 2011 CTHS Society (Ontario Division) Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale, where he was consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent. The dark bay bred in Ontario by Arosa Farms out of the Distorted Humor mare Murani went on to earn $1,099,258.
Dynamic Sky began his stud career at Shannondoe Farm in Ontario in 2017. He now resides at WorkWize Stables in Alberta, where he stood the 2020 breeding season for an advertised fee of CA$3,000.
