A funeral mass will take place Thursday, Oct. 15 at Sacred Heart RC Church, located at 149 South Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, N.J., from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Burial will follow the mass at Hillside Cemetery Scotch Plains, located at 1401 Woodland Ave., Scotch Plains, N.J.

He is survived by his wife, Elisa, and sons Michael and Paul III.

"He was truly a family man. He has his two boys and his wife. Most of the time, everything revolved around his family," said Jerry McClenin, Pompa's cousin-in-law and stable manager. "The horses were more like a playground for him, but he did take it very seriously."
