After earning a grade 1 placing, Benjamin and Sally Warren's California homebredĀ Warren's Showtime will aim to collect her first graded victory in the $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes (G3T), a mile on the turf for 3-year-old fillies Oct. 17 at Santa Anita Park.
The daughter of Clubhouse Ride has won four black-type events, including three this year. The most recent was the June 21 Melair Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita. Following that effort, she finished third in two graded events at Del Mar: the July 25 San Clemente Stakes (G2T) and the Aug. 22 Del Mar Oaks (G1T), the latter her longest race at nine furlongs. Warren's Showtime's first three stakes wins all came over the same course and distance as the Autumn Miss. Trainer Craig Anthony Lewis has assigned jockey Flavien Prat the mount. The chestnut filly will break from post 5.
Warren's Showtime is the only stakes winner among the seven entries, but she will be back against San Clemente runner-up Guitty, who edged past late to finish second by three-quarters of a length over her Autumn Miss rival.
A French-bred filly owned by Benowitz Family Trust, Madaket Stables, M. Mathiesen, and M. Powell, Guitty will return against fillies after running ninth against males in the Sept. 6 Del Mar Derby (G2T). The Leonard Powell trainee raced near the back of the pack and was checked near the five-sixteenths pole. Guitty also lacked a response when seventh in the Del Mar Oaks. Juan Hernandez will rideĀ from post 4.
Red Baron's Barn and Rancho Temescal's Croughavouke, an Irish-bred trained by Jeff Mullins, enters off an allowance optional claiming win going a mile on Del Mar's turf Aug. 29. She was fifth in the San Clemente, in which she was bumped at the break, but is multiple stakes-placed. In the May 30 Honeymoon Stakes (G3T), she was third, beaten only half a length to Laura's Light, who came back to win the San Clemente. Umberto Rispoli will ride Croughavouke for the sixth consecutive time as she breaks from the outside.
Going to Vegas, who was second to Croughavouke last out, Mind Out, Quiet Secretary, and Nasty complete the field.
