Purim's Dancer Aims to Make Grade in Maddy

A winner of four of her five starts on the 6 1/2-furlong hillside course at Santa Anita Park, Purim's Dancer will try to earn the first graded stakes win of her career when she returns to that course for the $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes (gr. IIIT) Nov. 2.
The Maddy, scheduled for 11:25 a.m. PDT, will be the final of three races contested before Saturday's Breeders' Cup World Championships races begin with the Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) scheduled for 12:05 p.m. PDT.
Doug Donnelly, Corey Johnsen, Lenny Kohn, and Gene McLean's Purim's Dancer enters off a half-length victory in an Oct. 4 allowance race contested on the downhill course. The 4-year-old Purim filly won this year's Wishing Well Stakes on the same course and her only loss in five tries on the unique course came in a third-place finish to Mizdirection in this year's Las Cienegas Stakes (gr. IIIT).
Mizdirection defeated males on the hillside course in last year's Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT) and will try for a second straight win in that race later in the day Saturday.
Purim's Dancer will face an expected dozen other fillies and mares in the Maddy, including Juddmonte Farms homebred Ultrasonic, who will try for her first career stakes win in her U.S. debut after placing in seven stakes wins in England; and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners Judy in Disguise, who won the Sweet Life Stakes on the hillside course earlier this year.
