Breeders' Cup Saturday is here and with perfect fall weather at Keeneland, it feels more like California outside than Kentucky. Sunny skies and a high temperature of 73 degrees is forecast.
As one would expect, the main track is fast. The turf course remains good, as it was for racing yesterday, following rainfall late last month. Conditions should not be an excuse.
There is no paid attendance on track for the Breeders' Cup due to COVID-19, but there was a sizable group of people here yesterday, comprised of owners and their guests, breeders, sales consignors, participating horsemen, and media. It was more people than during the fanless meet in October, leading to some close quarters at times surrounding the paddock and atop the trackside rail.
