Bloodstock consultant and publisher Mike Brown, 63, died Oct. 29 in Lexington, according to family and friends.
Born Michael Scott Brown in Louisville, Ky., he grew up in Lexington and will be remembered for his wit and love of international Thoroughbred racing and breeding, say friends. He had a strong association with prominent Irish bloodstock agent Brian Grassick and made many of his contacts in the industry during sales at Tattersalls.
Brown graduated from Woodberry Forest School in Madison County, Va., and from there earned a bachelor of science degree in history from Washington & Lee University. He went on to publish Racing Update and FaxTrax. He also was a longtime member of the Keeneland Association and Thoroughbred Club of America
Brown is survived by his sister, Rebecca, and his nephew, Henry Bryant. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Kerr Bros. Funeral Home in Lexington. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
