Sir Prancealot Tops Rancho San Miguel Stallion Roster

Rancho San Miguel has set 2021 stud fees for its seven stallions, led by the globe-trotting Sir Prancealot , whose fee will remain a California-leading $15,000 for his second season in the state.

Sir Prancealot—whose progeny have won stakes in at least six countries in 2020—will return from Cornerstone Stud in Australia after breeding 105 mares in California this year. His offspring have shown a propensity for high-quality racing in North America with 17% graded stakes winners and 53% stakes horses, earning an average earning per starters of over $210,000 from his only 17 starters, according to Rancho San Miguel.

Two of his progeny ran competitively during the Breeders' Cup last week at Keeneland when Miss Amulet ran third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) and Lady Prancelot was a closing fourth in the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T).

Lady Prancealot, a grade 1 winner, sold for $1.6 million to Shadai Farm during the ongoing Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, one of three fillies and mares by Sir Prancealot to sell there this week. The other two, Beau Recall and Tonahuta, sold for $350,000 apiece.

Danzing Candy , a fast multiple grade 2-winning son of Twirling Candy  who bred 331 mares in his first three seasons at stud and whose first crop will be 2-year-olds next year, will have his fee remain at $5,000. His yearlings have been well received in California, Washington, and Florida sales, topped by a $115,000 colt at this year's Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale. 

Curlin to Mischief , a half brother to Into Mischief , Beholder, and Mendelssohn , will have his fee remain at $3,500. His 2-year-old son Good With People is a multiple stakes winner of $199,000 and one of the leading California-bred juveniles. In the sales ring, a colt by the sire sold for $85,000, which was among the highest prices at the recent Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Sale.
