Trainer Guadalupe Preciado notches his 2,000th win with Chub Wagon at Parx Racing

Trainer Guadalupe Preciado notched his 2,000th career victory Nov. 16 as he saddled Joe Dan Farm and George Chestnut's first-time starter Chub Wagon, his first runner of the day, to win the fourth race at Parx Racing.

Ridden by Jomar Torres, Chub Wagon grabbed the lead early in the six-furlong waiver maiden claiming event. The 3-year-old Hey Chub filly, a Pennsylvania homebred for her owners, set fractions of :22.82 and :47.10 before completing the distance on a fast track in 1:11.96. She drew off to win by 7 1/2 lengths.

A native of Mexico, Preciado came to the United States and began training in 1989. He has collected over $44.6 million in earnings and was inducted into the Parx Hall of Fame in 2013. One of his best trainees was PJG Stable's Favorite Tale, whose victories included the Smile Sprint Stakes (G2) and Gallant Bob Stakes (G3). Favorite Tale finished third in both the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) and Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) in 2015. Preciado has also conditioned graded stakes winners Caught in the Rain, Iron Punch, Joker, Score a Birdie, and Michael's Star.

A chance meeting with owner Jack Mondel of Hidden Lane Farms jump-started Preciado's career in the early 1990s, led by multiple graded stakes winner Mr. Nasty and grade 2 victress Debutant's Halo.
