Echo Town wins the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Saratoga Race Course

Echo Town , winner of this year's H. Allen Jerkens Stakes Presented by Runhappy (G1), has been retired from racing and will stand at Ashford Stud. The 3-year-old son of Speightstown  will stand for $10,000.

"We are delighted that Echo Town will be coming to Ashford," said Ashford's director of sales Charlie O'Connor. "He's a very good-looking horse and Speightstown is making an impression as a sire of sires. As one of the best sprinters of his generation we think Echo Town offers a similar profile to our own Munnings , who continues to go from strength to strength."

Echo Town broke his maiden at first asking at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots by 2 1/2 lengths for trainer Steve Asmussen and owners L and N Racing. Two more convincing wins followed at Oaklawn Park and Churchill Downs before he ran second in the Woody Stephens Stakes Presented by Claiborne Farm (G1), which was his first start in grade 1 company. Next time out in the H. Allen Jerkens, he turned the table on three of his rivals in the Woody Stephens, drawing off to win by 3 1/2 lengths. Later at Keeneland, Echo Town finished a close third in the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2), where he outran eventual Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) winner Whitmore.

"We are extremely excited for Echo Town to stand at Coolmore America," said Michael Levinson, co-owner of L and N Racing. "He has been a star on the racetrack, and we're confident Coolmore will give him every opportunity to succeed as a stallion, we look forward to seeing his foals hit the ground in 2022."

Bred in Kentucky by Betz, J. Betz, Burns, CHNNHK Thoroughbreds, Magers, et al., the colt is out of the grade 2 winner Letgomyecho. The mare also has produced grade 3 winner J Boys Echo (by Mineshaft ), grade 3-placed winner Unbridled Outlaw (Unbridled's Song), and multiple stakes-placed winner Dragic (Broken Vow ). Echo Town's second dam, Echo Echo Echo, is also the granddam of Ohio Derby (G3) winner Dean Martini and Sapling Stakes (G3) winner Western Smoke.

Echo Town is already at Ashford and available for inspection by appointment.
