Aspen Club wins on debut Dec. 7 at Remington Park

Randy Morse homebred Aspen Club provided sire Street Strategy  with his first winner Dec. 7 when the gelding won his debut by 2 1/2 lengths at Remington Park

Trained by Morse, 2-year-old Aspen Club broke midpack and settled in fourth just off the pace. Ridden by David Cabrera, the gelding was well-placed running four-wide into the turn of the 6 1/2-furlong sprint and had established command by a short head as the half mile was clocked in :46.65.

Set down for the drive by Cabrera at the top of the stretch, Aspen Club pulled away from the rest of the field in increasing increments and was clear of his six competitors at the wire. Final time for the race was 1:18.56 over a track rated fast.

Aspen Club was bred in Arkansas out of the Formal Gold mare Real Bear. His sole win brings his earnings to $17,298.

Also trained by Morse, Street Strategy made 11 starts while racing from 3 to 5. The son of Street Sense  was originally campaigned by David Clark of Iron Horse Racing, who died from cancer shortly before the horse was retired. In his last start, Street Strategy raced for Randy Patterson, who had purchased the horse privately following Clark's death. That race would prove to be the horse's only stakes win as he took the Fifth Season Stakes at Oaklawn Park

Bred in Kentucky by Glencrest Farm and Darley, Street Strategy is out of the Notebook mare Spoken Softly. He retired in 2016 with $282,920 in earnings. Street Strategy entered stud at the Lake Hamilton Equine Center in Arkansas. He will stand for $1,000 in 2021.
