Grade 1 winner Instilled Regard  will enter stud next year at Taylor Made Stallions, the farm announced on Twitter Dec. 11. He will stand for $12,500 with a stands and nurses guarantee.

The 5-year-old son of Arch raced for Larry Best's OXO Equine after he acquired the colt for $1.05 million at the 2017 Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale out of Tom McCrocklin's consignment. KatieRich Farms bred Instilled Regard in Kentucky and offered him previously at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, where he was bought back on a final bid of $110,000.

Instilled Regard is out of the Forestry winner Enhancing, who is out of champion 3-year-old filly and multiple grade 1 winner Heavenly Prize, which makes Enhancing a half sister to multiple grade 1 winner Good Reward (Storm Cat), grade 2 winner and successful sire Pure Prize (Storm Cat), and black-type winner Cosmic (El Prado).

At 2, Instilled Regard won in his third start and stamped himself as grade 1 quality by following up with a runner-up effort in the Los Alamitos Cash Call Futurity (G1). At 3, he won the Lecomte Stakes (G3) and earned a spot in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). Despite getting slammed at the start of the Derby and getting blocked by traffic, Instilled Regard displayed his impressive turn of foot by closing from ninth after a mile to finish fourth behind eventual Triple Crown winner Justify .

Switched to trainer Chad Brown's barn in mid-2018, Instilled Regard got the chance to show his versatility with a third in the Hollywood Derby (G1T) and a win on the grass in graded company at 4 in the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes (G2T). At 5, Instilled Regard landed that elusive grade 1 win in the Manhattan Stakes (G1T), where his final quarter in the 1 1/4-mile race was an impressive :22.71. He was retired with a 5-3-4 record from 18 starts and earned $983,240.

"He proved over and over he could carry his speed over a distance," said Frank Taylor of Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville, Ky. "He is just a very impressive individual out of a Phipps family that will be an outcross with a lot mares. With his versatility, he fits everyone."

Taylor also noted that Instilled Regard has similar breeding to Darley's leading freshman sire Nyquist , who is out of the Forestry mare Seeking Gabrielle. Arch is the broodmare sire of Nyquist's sire, Uncle Mo .

Blue Prize, bought for $5 million last year by OXO Equine at The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton's selected mixed sale, will be bred to Instilled Regard next year. The mare is currently in foal to Into Mischief , according to OXO Equine. The 7-year-old made over $2.6 million in 23 starts, capped by a victory in the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

Taylor Made also stands Best's other entering-year stallion, Instagrand , a grade 2-winning son of Into Mischief who stands for $7,500.

"Larry is stepping up and supporting both these stallions like nothing I've ever seen," Taylor said. "We are really excited about both of them."
