The Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association is hosting an online 2021 stallion season auction, scheduled for Dec. 16-23, hosted through Thoroughlybred.com. As of Dec.10, seasons for 84 stallions from six states and Canada were donated and more are expected.

The eight-day auction offers a variety of proven sires and young stallions, many which may be acquired at a discounted price. The seasons include Astern, Bal a Bali , Barkley, Bee Jersey , Country House , Danzing Candy , Klimt , and Texas Ryano —all graded stakes winners. They are joined by the like of proven sires Tapiture , Midshipman , Carpe Diem , Smiling Tiger , Afleet Alex , and Harbor the Gold.

The auction features a special drawing for stallion owners. Among the stallions with the eight highest-priced seasons will be a drawing for a bonus equal to 50% of the highest-priced season or up to $5,000, and for all other stallions will be a drawing to receive 50% of their highest-priced season up to $1,000.

It is anticipated a bonus similar to the one offered for the progeny of seasons sold during the 2020 seasons auction will be offered for the foals produced from the 2021 auction seasons. This bonus of at least $5,000 is available in each of two 3-year-old stakes to be run at Emerald Downs. The bonuses are paid to the winning owner(s) of the eligible horse(s).
