Mr. Money wins his fourth consecutive graded stakes in the 2019 West Virginia Derby

Grade 1-placed, multiple graded stakes winner Mr. Money  will enter stud in 2021 at Brent and Crystal Fernung's Journeyman Stud near Ocala, Fla., the farm announced Dec. 30. He will stand for $5,000.

The 4-year-old son of Goldencents  retires with a 6-3-0 record from 18 starts and earnings of $1,360,430.

Raced initially by Allied Racing Stable, Mr. Money was runner-up in his first two starts at 2 before breaking through in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Churchill Downs that he won by 3 3/4 lengths. He went on to finish fourth in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) behind eventual 2-year-old champion male Game Winner .

At 3, Mr. Money went on a graded-stakes-winning tear that began with the Pat Day Mile Stakes Presented by LG and E and KU (G3) and carried through the Matt Winn Stakes (G3), Indiana Derby (G3), and West Virginia Derby (G3). These four graded stakes were won by a combined 20 1/4 lengths. In his next start, he just missed in a grade 1 with a neck loss to Math Wizard in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1), where he finished in front of Preakness Stakes (G1) winner War of Will , grade 1 winner Improbable , and eventual Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Spun to Run .

This year, Mr. Money added the Ack Ack Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs to his stakes record in a six-race campaign that concluded with an 11th-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Keeneland Nov. 7.

"Mr. Money is as well named as a horse can be," said Brent Fernung. "He went where the big money was and took home a bunch of it. He won four consecutive graded stakes as a 3-year-old and probably should have won the Pennsylvania Derby as well. As a son of leading third-crop sire Goldencents, Mr. Money brings that super-prolific Into Mischief  sire line to Florida in the form of a truly top racehorse."

Mr. Money is the second foal out of the Tiznow winner Plenty O'Toole. She has three other foals of racing age, including winner Julia's Kitty (Tale of the Cat). Plenty O'Toole is out of the Distorted Humor  daughter O' Toole, a half sister to 2009 Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) winner Well Armed, an earner of more than $5.1 million, and a full sister to graded stakes winner and multiple stakes producer Witty.

Allied Racing's Chester Thomas, who eventually raced Mr. Money in partnership with Spendthrift Farm, said: "I couldn't be more proud to stand Mr. Money at Journeyman Stud. He was an incredibly talented racehorse with tons of class coupled with speed and endurance. I intend to breed a dozen or so of my own mares to Mr. Money. I have a huge amount of confidence in him."

Mr. Money will stand as the property of Allied Racing and Spendthrift Farm.
