Ridenjac Racing's 2-year-old filly Insightful wired a 5 1/2-furlong race at Tampa Bay Downs Dec. 30 to award freshman sire Barbados with his first winner.

Jose Ferrer guided the chestnut to victory for trainer Dennis Ward. Insightful completed the distance of the maiden claiming race in 1:04.63 on a fast track. It was her second start after finishing fourth in her debut Dec. 9 at the Tampa oval.

Insightful was bred in Maryland by Little Man Farm out of the Mutakddim mare Falcon's Eye. She was purchased for $4,500 by Ridenjac Racing from the Shamrock Farm consignment to the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale.

A son of Speightstown , Barbados made 16 starts from ages 2 to 4 and collected $377,241 from a 4-3-1 record. His top victory came in the 2015 Hutcheson Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park and he won two other black-type races in Florida. He also placed in the Amsterdam Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course, the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G3) at Keeneland, and the Carry Back Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream. He raced most of his career for Suzanne Stables and trainer Michael Tomlinson.

Barbados was bred in Kentucky by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds out of the stakes-winning Street Cry mare Northern Station. He will stand the 2021 season at Shamrock Farm near Woodbine, Md., for $2,500.
