Description:

Because of severe winter weather conditions, or expected winter weather, racing for March 5 has been canceled at Aqueduct Racetrack, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, and Oaklawn Park.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course also has canceled its Thursday night card after another five inches of snow fell in the area. It's the 10th live racing card lost in 2015 at Penn National because of winter weather. The track is scheduled to race March 6.

Laurel Park canceled its live program and its simulcast programs for March 5 because of weather conditions. Live racing is scheduled to resume March 6 with a 12:30 p.m. EST first race post time.

In Kentucky, Churchill Downs canceled simulcast wagering for March 5 after a winter storm dropped 8 to 12 inches of snow in the area. The racetrack's offices also will be closed. Keeneland in Lexington also said simulcast wagering wouldn't be offered because of the snowstorm, and that its annual gift shop sale, scheduled to begin March 5, would be held March 6-7.

Also called off was a planned March 5 presentation of a pair of commemorative 2015 Breeders' Cup tickets to Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear by Breeders' Cup and Keeneland officials.

In New York, training at Aqueduct and Belmont Park was canceled due to the winter weather conditions. Aqueduct and the Belmont Cafe will remain open for simulcasting. Telebet and Internet wagering will continue to be available through NYRA Rewards.

Live racing at Aqueduct is scheduled to resume March 6 with a triple Pick 6 carryover of $148,147.

In Arkansas, Oaklawn officials noted they've lost seven days to bad weather this season. Oaklawn's gaming and smulcast operation remains open March 5.
