Grupo 7C Racing Stable's Jesus' Team tuned up for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) coming up Jan. 23 with a bullet five-furlong workout Jan. 2 at Palm Meadows Training Center. It was his first work since capturing the Dec. 5 Claiming Crown Jewel Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The 4-year-old Tapiture  colt, who ran second in the Nov. 7 Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Keeneland and third in the Oct. 3 Preakness Stakes (G1) at Pimlico Race Course, was timed in :59.75 over a fast track. The work was fastest of six at the distance.

"He was very sharp. It was an amazing workout and an amazing gallop out too," trainer Jose D'Angelo said. "I am very happy with the work today. I think we have a big chance in the Pegasus World Cup."

Like the Jewel, the Pegasus is a 1 1/8-mile test on Gulfstream's main track.

"He will have two more breezes: six furlongs next week and four furlongs the next week," D'Angelo said.

The 2020 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby (G2) winner King Guillermo breezed a half-mile in :47.66 at Gulfstream Saturday. The Uncle Mo  colt finished fourth in the Dec. 5 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) at Aqueduct Racetrack after a seven-month layoff for trainer Juan Carlos Avila and Victoria's Ranch.
