Description:

Clubhouse Ride, a $22,000 purchase from a 2010 Barretts sale who went on to earn more than $1.3 million, has been retired to stud at Harris Farms near Coalinga, Calif.

Owned by Six-S Racing Stable and Nikolas Petralia, and trained by Craig Lewis, the 7-year-old son of Candy Ride   won the Californian Stakes (gr. II) in May at Santa Anita Park, and wrapped up his career with a ninth-place finish behind Shared Belief in the San Antonio Invitational Stakes (gr. II) Feb. 7.

The five-time winner bred in Kentucky by Sidney and Jenny Craig, also won the Californian when it was contested at Hollywood Park in 2013 and finished second or third in nine other graded stakes, including a second in the 2013 Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) behind Game On Dude.

"I loved the horse," Lewis said. "He was a great horse to be around (and) a great horse to train. He made my job easy, because he just loved what he was doing. He was all race horse."
