Description:

Due to heavy rains that hit northern New Jersey overnight and are expected to continue through early afternoon Nov. 1, the Meadowlands racetrack has canceled live Thoroughbred racing.

Meanwhile, Friday's Woodbine live Thoroughbred card was also canceled due to high winds and wind gusts.

Both tracks will remain open for simulcasting, including the full card from Santa Anita Park and the first day of the Breeders’ Cup.

Winds in the greater Toronto area were blowing at approximately 40-50 kilometers per hour with gusts over 75 kilometers per hour, according to Environment Canada.

“The wind gusts have compromised our ability to safely run today’s race card,” said Steve Koch, Woodbine’s vice-president of Thoroughbred racing.

Both tracks are expected to resume live racing Saturday, Nov. 2. It is the final day of the all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands meet.
