Joe Talamo is off his mounts for the Jan. 22 opening day card at Oaklawn Park after testing positive Friday at the Arkansas track for COVID-19. The jockey is asymptomatic.
An Oaklawn spokesperson confirmed the positive, which was detected at Oaklawn via a rapid test. The test was required by track health and safety protocols. Talamo rode last weekend at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in Louisiana, where he won the Lecomte Stakes (G3) aboard Midnight Bourbon.
Talamo will be required to produce a negative test before he can return to riding.
