Hallowed Crown dug down in the closing stages and won a three-horse battle for the Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas (Aus-I) March 7 at Royal Randwick.
Shooting To Win led for most of the trip from Hallowed Crown, with Rhodin Drive, and Sworn To Silence in pursuit. Approaching the 200-meter mark, Sweynesse ranged up to challenge on the inside of Shooting To Win, but Hallowed Crown knuckled down when called upon and the three raced as a team toward the finish line.
Close to home Hugh Bowman asked Hallowed Crown for more and his mount responded, surging to a three-quarter-length victory from Sweynesse, with Shooting To Win a short head back in third.

Trainer Gay Waterhouse's Cosmic Endeavour made a quick turnaround to win the Canterbury Stakes (Aus-I) against males in the following race on Saturday's card.
The 4-year-old daughter of deceased sire Northern Meteor notched her second group I win, scoring by a half-length from multiple group winner Catkins while 2014 Australian Derby (Aus-I) winner Criterion was 1 1/4 lengths back in third.
Cosmic Endeavour was second in the Guy Walter Stakes (Aus-III) at Warwick Farm Feb. 28, and Waterhouse decided to take a shot at the Canterbury on her home track despite the fast return.
"I started to think the Canterbury Stakes is such a winnable race," Waterhouse told racingnetwork.com.au. "All this week every single day she kept improving, and it was a joy just to see her and she has beaten the boys before and I just knew she was cherry-ripe and this was the time to run her."
Cosmic Endeavour controlled the pace and uncoiled a resolute rally up the rise for James McDonald to get the win in 1:15.17 for the 1,300 meters (about 6 1/2 furlongs). The victory was her seventh from 16 career outings that also includes her victory in the 2014 Tattersalls Tiara (Aus-I) at Eagle Farm.
Waterhouse trains the filly for D. C. Kelly and Mrs. J. R. Kelly, who paid $230,000 (US$237,199) for her at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter sale. Willow Park Stud consigned.
Bred in Australia by Mrs. C. B. Redmond, Cosmic Endeavour is out of the multiple stakes-winning Danehill mare Crevette, who was group II-placed and is a full sister to two-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year Fairy King Prawn.
