Description:

Shared Belief will likely look toward the $600,000 Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II) April 11 for his next race, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said March 8, a day after a dominating win in the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I).

"He came out of the race very good," Hollendorfer said Sunday morning.

The trainer dismissed any questions of whether the son of Candy Ride   would venture overseas to tangle with California Chrome again in the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan March 28.

Instead, he's considering the 1 1/8-mile test at Oaklawn Park, which would still be the gelding's first start outside of California.

"No, we're not going to Dubai," Hollendorfer said. "There are lots of races in this country to run with plenty big enough purses. We just don't want to make a trip over there."

Shared Belief has raced in five consecutive graded stakes at Santa Anita Park, winning all but the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) Nov. 1. Prior to his run at the Arcadia, Calif. track, he won the Pacific Classic Stakes (gr. I) at Del Mar Aug. 24 and the Los Alamitos Derby (gr. I) July 5 for the ownership group of Jim Rome's Jungle Racing, Jason Litt, Alex Solis II, George Todaro, KMN Racing, and Hollendorfer.
