Three Chimneys Farm reported Feb. 8 that their stallion, the grade-1 placed Fast Anna, was euthanized at the age of 10.

"It is with much sadness that we report that Fast Anna was euthanized today due to complications from a month-long battle with laminitis," said Tom Hamm, director of nominations and sales at Three Chimneys.

Fast Anna was the sire of four stakes winners from two crops to race including multiple stakes winners Been Studying Her and Fast Scene. He was standing for a fee of $5,000 at Three Chimneys Farm at the time of his death.

The son of Medaglia d'Oro  raced under the silks of Frank Calabrese and was trained by Wayne Catalano, who also campaigned his dam, Dreaming of Anna, who won the 2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Fast Anna scored handily in his debut as a 3-year-old at Gulfstream Park before notching a tour-de-force 13-length victory in an allowance contest over that same track. In his third start, he nearly stole the Ketel One King's Bishop Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course, setting all the pace before yielding by a neck to The Big Beast  at the wire. The speedy dark bay concluded his sophomore campaign with a game runner-up finish in the Gallant Bob Stakes (G3) at Parx Racing and a fifth-place effort in the Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

As a 4-year-old, Fast Anna aced his turf debut with a victory in the Sawgrass Handicap over the Gulfstream lawn. He went on to place in two other black-type stakes before retiring with earnings of $296,731.

Fast Anna hailed from the family of champion and top sire Kitten's Joy , grade 1 winner Precious Kitten, and multiple graded stakes winners Lewis Michael and Justenuffhumor.
