The first reported foals by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa's first-crop sire World of Trouble arrived in January, according to the farm.
Jocelyn McKathan of McKathan Farm bred the first reported foal, a Kentucky-bred bay colt out of Sparkling Beauty that was born Jan. 12. McKathan described the colt as athletic with a great shoulder and hind end and looks "speedy."
Another foal, a bay filly out of Lizzie K, was bred by World of Trouble's breeder Daryl Clark of Darsan. The filly born Jan. 30 is a half sister to multiple stakes winner A Bit of Both (by Paynter ).
"The foal bears a strong resemblance to her sire," said Clark. "She looks like she will be very fast. I am very pleased with what I see."
Breeders Al and Laura Mazzetti also reported the birth of a stout bay colt out of the multiple stakes-producing mare Free Space, from the immediate family of Valid Expectations.
World of Trouble, a 6-year-old son of Kantharos , was a dual surface grade 1 winner, having captured the Carter Handicap (G1) on Aqueduct Racetrack's main track and the Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G1T) at Belmont Park. He won eight black-type stakes during his career, which resulted in a 9-2-1 record from 13 starts and $1,263,300 in earnings. As a sire, he bred 121 mares in his first book.
