Jackie's Warrior, third in the Feb. 27 Southwest Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park, will be pointed toward the Pat Day Mile Presented by LG&E and KU (G2) May 1 at Churchill Downs, said Mark Toothaker, stallion sales manager for Spendthrift Farm. Spendthrift Farm owns breeding rights to the 3-year-old colt.

The Pat Day Mile is a $500,000 race around one turn on the undercard of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).

The Southwest, in which he was beaten 8 1/2 lengths by champion Essential Quality, was the second straight two-turn defeat for the son of Maclean's Music . A start earlier in his final race at 2, he was fourth as the favorite in the TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1) at Keeneland after chasing a fast pace. Both races were 1 1/16 miles.

The Kirk and Judy Robison-owned colt went 4-for-4 in one-turn races last year for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. He won a maiden race at Churchill Downs and then became the first horse since Dehere in 1993 to manage the stakes triple of the Saratoga Special Stakes Presented by Miller Lite (G2), Runhappy Hopeful Stakes (G1), and Champagne Stakes (G1). The Saratoga Special and Hopeful came at Saratoga Race Course, the Champagne at Belmont Park.
