Mamdooha Targets Fifth Straight in Correction

Shadwell Stable's Mamdooha will return from a year-long layoff and attempt to extend her win streak to five straight races when she starts in the $100,000 Correction Stakes at six furlongs for older fillies and mares March 14 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

A daughter of Cigar Mile (gr. I) winner Daaher  , Mamdooha has not raced since March 15, 2014, when she came from off the pace to take the Cicada Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths over the Big A's inner track. She has compiled a record of 4-1-0 from five starts with earnings of $230,200, most of which she earned in her abridged 2014 campaign.

In addition to her Cicada victory, the Kiaran McLaughlin trainee has logged stakes wins in the Ruthless, also on Aqueduct's inner track, and the Gin Talking at Laurel Park.

"We're happy to have her back; she's a very classy filly," McLaughlin said. "She has been training in Florida and couldn't be doing any better. She has matured, filled out, and has been training great, so we're expecting to see an improved performance, not that she needs to improve much.

"There aren't many spots to run her; she has gone through all her conditions. We could have brought her back in a grade 2 (the Inside Information Stakes March 21 at Gulfstream Park), but we thought this was an easier spot and she obviously likes the inner track."

Mamdooha, 5-1 on the morning line, will break from post 2 with Irad Ortiz Jr. in the irons.

Listed as the 2-1 program favorite, Isabelle will go out for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott and owner William Schettine. The Successful Appeal   filly has won three straight, including her past two on the inner track since she was transferred to Mott for her 4-year-old campaign.

In her most recent start, the Schettine color-bearer took the Broadway Stakes for New York-bred fillies by 1 1/2 lengths Feb. 14 at Aqueduct. Junior Alvarado, who was aboard Isabelle for her past two starts, retains the mount Saturday, and the pair will depart from post 4.
