Constitution, winner of the Donn Handicap (gr. I) Feb. 7 at Gulfstream Park, has been ruled out of the $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) March 28 at Meydan Racecourse because of heat and soreness in his left shin.

The 4-year-old son of Tapit  's injury was discovered March 8 at Palm Beach Downs.

"After breezing him on Saturday, we detected some heat and slight soreness in his shin on Sunday morning," trainer Todd Pletcher said. "With the Breeders' Cup as our main goal, we decided to take the conservative approach for now and not ship him to Dubai."

Owned by WinStar Farm and Twin Creeks Racing, the Kentucky-bred colt out of the Distorted Humor   mare Baffled has just over $1 million in earnings with a four wins (including two grade I victories) in six career starts.

It's the second week in a row a major contender for the richest race in the world has dropped out. Favored Toast of New York withdrew March 6 because of a soft tissue injury.
